September Piece Autumn will soon be upon us and at this time of year BGPC look to renew policies and procedures. In September, we shall welcome Jude as our new Clerk. Jude has a wealth of experience of working in the public sector and it is hoped that she will get up to speed with the tasks very quickly. BGPC are also very pleased to announce that Call Connect is now available for those residents living in Stainfield, Apley and Kingsthorpe. If you are a resident of these areas and would like to book the service, the number is 0345 234 3344 and this number can also be found on either the village noticeboards or the Parish Council Facebook page. Many thanks go to Mrs Rita Dixon and her friends for raising this issue. Last month, BGPC hosted a parishioners meeting with a representative of the NHS to discuss issues relating to the health provision in our area. This was a very constructive meeting and covered a whole range of issues and health services. In August, Stainfield War Memorial was also repaired. The repairs carried out included the complete replacement of the badly damaged stone and this work should ensure that the memorial will be standing strong for another 100 years. In July, BGPC held a very positive and productive meeting with allotment holders, where several issues were discussed including the annual problem of treating ragwort at the site. A decision regarding removal has been made however it has been proving difficult to find someone prepared to quote for the work to be carried out. BGPC shall endeavour to address this issue. The Council are also very pleased to welcome three new allotment holders to the site, if you would also like to take on an allotment, then please call the office on 01526 397406 or see the BGPC website to download the relevant forms. The next full council meeting will be on Thursday 21st September at Bardney Fire Station. * * * * * * * * * August piece The summer is finally with us and whilst most Parish Councils take a break for the holidays, Bardney Group Parish Council continues to meet and carryout duties. BGPC has been approached by both the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (the organisation that runs Lincolnshire County Hospital) and Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue to host public consultations. The decision was made to hold a joint meeting for both organisations. The NHS would like to hear public views on the future of their services and the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue would like to present their work and opportunities to support them. Therefore BGPC has arranged the meeting for Thursday 10th August at 7pm at Bardney Fire Station. There is disabled access available for those who require it.
In June, parishioners, Councillors and staff met with a representative of West Lindsey District Council to discuss Call Connect in our area. The meeting was very positive and additional opportunities and routes were discussed at the meeting. We should find out the final decision after 17.7.17 and we shall notify everyone via the usual channels as soon as we discover the outcome.
In the next few weeks every household in the parish should have received a flyer explaining the role of a parish councillor, if you would like to find out more, or indeed would like to become a Parish Councillor please return the flyer or contact the council office on 01526 397406, alternatively you can email clerk@bardneygroup-pc.gov.uk.
As a council, BGPC has introduced the practice of closely monitoring all planning applications in our area. It appears that in the past our area has lost out on additional funding when developments have been built, or our roads have been un-necessarily been blighted by construction traffic and debris which could have been prevented. Council staff have recently attended training regarding planning issues, as well as sort advice from independent external sources. Hopefully this information will help to protect our area and ensure that any future development has a benefit and does not disrupt the community.
Work relating to the Neighbourhood Plan should resume in September, as West Lindsey District Council has overhauled its support for Parish Councils. More information about the Neighbourhood Plan will be in next month’s edition of the Parish Magazine.
BGPC are also updating Lincolnshire County Council Highways department with regards to street lighting issues, with the aim of ensuring that all problems are resolved before the dark nights start to draw in. If you become aware of any street lighting issues please get in contact with the office on 01526 397406 or email clerk@bardneygroup-pc.gov.uk.
The next Full Council Meeting will take place at Bardney Fire Station on Thursday 19th August at 7pm and a full list of meeting dates are shown in each of the village noticeboards.
Clerk Leanne Shaw has sadly resigned. The Council wish to thank her for her hard work and wish her the best of luck in the future. Consequently, Clerk Angharad Boyson has resigned the role as temporary Clerk to take up an opportunity in Personal and Business Coaching. A new Clerk will start soon.
