The 7th Barrowby Scarecrow Festival & Family BBQ

1st and 2nd September 2018

This year’s exciting event will take place over on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2018 after the August bank holiday. The Theme is Family Friendly Sci-Fi and you are all encouraged to participate and be as creative as possible.

We have made some exciting changes to the format of the weekend. The family BBQ will be on the Village Green on the Sunday afternoon from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The usual burgers (incl. veggies) and hotdogs will be available as well as live music and the prize giving.  In addition to the usual prizes, there is the People’s Choice award (for you to judge and vote for over the two days) and a revamped children’s quiz competition linked to the scarecrows on display.

There will also be ‘Games on the Green’, a Tombola, Book Stall, Allotment Association Produce stall, Ice Cream Van, face painting on Saturday, games at the Parish Church (where you can still get delicious tea and cake), as well as Made in Barrowby at the Reading Room which showcases the numerous talents of people living in the Village. Virtu Honda will have some vehicles on the Village Green and the W.I. will have cakes, jams and plants for sale on the Sunday. If you still have any energy left after that, the new play equipment is available on the Village Green too!

The Scarecrow Festival Entry Form is on the Parish Council web site below with the entry fee of £2. Completed forms should be returned to Skinners butchers [post box on the table at the front]. Each Scarecrow entry will receive one BBQ voucher for either one free Burger or one free Hot Dog. We are holding garage sales on both days. If you want to have a garage sale please complete the entry form with your £5 so that we can place you on the map in the programme.

The whole weekend is organised with the aim of fundraising to support your local Barrowby News Newsletter and have FUN and celebrate the best of Barrowby at the same time! If you have items for the tombola please let me know.
