                     Caythorpe & Frieston Parish Council 

                                 is seeking to recruit a 

                     Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

The post-holder is required for 8 hours per week and is responsible for overall administration of the Parish Council’s business, including preparation of papers for council and committee meetings, held during the daytime and in the evenings, taking and transcribing accurate minutes, managing the parish burial ground, dealing with the Council's correspondence and monitoring the Council's policies.  The post-holder will also be responsible to the Council for the effective management of all its resources, maintaining & updating the council’s web site, and assist in the formation of policies to be followed in respect of the Council’s activities and in particular to produce all information required for making effective decisions and implementing them.  

The Responsible Financial Officer will be responsible for all financial records of the council and for careful administration of its finances, be competent in book-keeping and preferably have experience of accounting, payroll and VAT.

Applicants should possess a high level of numeracy and literary, demonstrate high standards of computer literacy, have excellent organisational and administrative skills and an ability to communicate at all levels in the community both orally and in writing. A flexible approach to working, along with good interpersonal skills and a sense of humour is necessary for this position.

 The successful candidate will be expected to study for and obtain the Certificate in Local Council Administration.

The successful candidates will be expected to work from home.  

A competitive salary is offered for this position, which is subject to annual review along nationally agreed and published guidelines.

Candidates are required to disclose in writing if they are related to any councillor or council employee and deliberate failure to disclose disqualifies a candidate, as does canvassing.
