History
At the beginning of the 1970s it was suggested by the Parish Council that there should be a village newsletter. Up until that time the Church had produced a Parish leaflet, so a sub-committee was set up to discuss the matter with the resident Vicar, Rev John Thorold. It was decided that a newsletter would be issued as a joint project. The Church would arrange the distribution (free to every household ), and the Parish Council would publish news items of village interest. The cost would be covered by the Parish Council, with extra income generated from advertisements and donations. The original Editor wsa Jerry Bowman, assisted by Val Wright, who then took on the editorship for many years.
Today
The current editor is Victoria Di Maro, who took over from Keith Deely in late 2015. The newsletter is now known as "Cherry News" and is independent of the Parish Council. The group is a "non-profit making society" and any difference between revenue and production costs is cycled back to village organisations.
CW News is delivered free of charge, by a team of volunteers to every house in the village. Distribution is usually the last Saturday in the month. There is currently no edition in January and August.
News regarding local organisations and residents' announcements are put in free of charge. Items from nearby villages are put in at the Editor's discretion.
