The Parish Council has Vacancies for 3 Parish Councillors. Would you like to become a Parish Councillor?

COUNCILLOR VACANCIES

There are three vacancies on Cherry Willingham Parish Council so, if you have some time and energy to spare and want to make a difference to our village, then please consider putting yourself forward to be co-opted as a Councillor. We hold 10 full council meetings a year, and you will also be required to sit on a minimum of one committee.

Who can stand for election?

Someone is eligible to stand for election to a parish or town council if they are:

  • British citizen, or a citizen of the Commonwealth or the European Union, and
  • 18 years or older on the day they become nominated for election And if they...
  • Are registered as a local government elector for the parish in which they wish to stand; or
  • Have for the whole 12-month period up to the date of the election, occupied (as owner or tenant) and or other premises in the parish; or
  • Have had their principal or only place of work during that same 12-month period in the parish; or
  • Have during the whole of that same 12-month period resided in the parish or within 4.8 kilometres (3 miles) of it.
Someone cannot be a candidate if they:
  • Are employed by the parish or town council or hold any paid office under the council (including employment by any joint boards/committees)
  • Are the subject of a bankruptcy restriction order or interim order
  • Have, within five years before the day of the election, been convicted in the United Kingdom of any offence and have had a prison sentence (whether suspended or not) for a period of over three months without the option of a fine
  • Have been disqualified under Part III of the Representation of the People Act 1983 (which relates to donations and other offences) or under the Audit Commission Act 1998

The deadline for receipt is noon on Thursday 16th November.

Applications received will be considered at the full council meeting on Monday 20th November.
