Flying the flag
Would you like to have the flag (either Union Flag or St. George’s flag) flown for a special occasion (eg a birthday, anniversary, confirmation, baptism, wedding etc) and at the same time raise some money for either the Church or the Village Hall?
A flag can be flown on the pole at the Village Hall (and raise money for the Village Hall) or on the pole at the end of Church Lane (by kind permission of Mr & Mrs John Czarnota) outside the Church, (and raise money for the Church).
Please contact either Cyril or Lois Webb on 01778 560437 or drop a note through the door, at 1 Old Bridge Cottage, directly opposite the Hare and Hounds pub.
Flags have recently been flown on the following occasions:
24 July 2010 to mark the 90th birthday of Mrs Joan Harris (Union Flag at the Village Hall). A quarter peal was also rung at Greatford Church to mark this special day.
17 July 2010 to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mrs Elizabeth Sharpe (Union Flag at Greatford Village Hall). Betty Sharpe used to live in Greatford, and now resides in Braceborough Retirement Home. A quarter peal was rung on the bells in Braceborough Church in the morning to mark this special occasion.
31 May 2010 for the birth (on 20 May) of Laura Grace Wallis, grand-daughter of James and Bridget Everitt (Union Flag at Village Hall).
1 May 2010 for confirmation of Harry Anders (St George’s Flag at the Church).
