CORONAVIRUS (Covid-19) Mayflower Drive and Playing Field Play equipment

Notice from Heckington Parish Council

As has been referred to previously Heckington Parish Council (HPC) has a duty to protect the community in any way possible.  The guidelines detailed on  has been read and re-read.

The results of the risk assessment do NOT make it possible to guarantee that the play areas are free from Covid-19 and therefore safe to use.  There is absolutely no point in doing risk assessments and not abiding by them.   Failing to adhere to guidelines can result in a serious fine or a possible 2-year custodial sentence. The HPC Councillors give a tremendous amount to try to keep Heckington the fantastic place it is to live, but are not prepared to risk these repercussions.

If other Councils feel they are covered by their own risk assessments, then that is their prerogative and responsibility.  Incidentally not all play parks are open – fact.

This is being reviewed regularly, the next being scheduled for 17th August 2020 or sooner if the government advice is changed.

Heckington is situated in the area of the south of Lincolnshire on the east coast of England and close to the Wash in the North Sea. The Parish supports a population of some 3,500 with most residents living in the Village and with a few hundred in the surrounding rural area.

The Parish area of 5,300 acres consists mainly of flat agricultural land (although the Village of Heckington is on slightly higher ground) and enjoys a very peaceful rural landscape.

The nearest larger urban settlements include Lincoln (twenty miles), Boston (ten miles) and Sleaford (six miles).
