New Zip Wire

Thanks to the Big Lottery Awards for All grant scheme the youths of the village are having great fun.

For the second year running a new piece of play equipment has been introduced to the Junior Playing Fields in Garthway

Last year an enormous wooden climbing frame was erected which was, and still is, a huge success with the children of the village and now an equally impressive Zip Wire has been installed, along with a clatter bridge that wobbles back and forth as the children walk across it-great fun!

The Zip Wire covers an area spanning approx. 50 metres and has a pulley system attached to a wire, in turn attached to two sturdy frames. It was supplied by Playdale Ltd and is a much needed addition to the play area.

Since being installed in May the two new pieces of equipment have seen regular groups of 20 youths enjoying them daily

Chairman of Holton-le-Clay Parish Council, Paul Rowntree, said ‘it is fantastic to see the children of the village enjoying the new play equipment. The Junior Playing Fields is a great area for parents to relax and watch their children play safely.

A further grant application will be submitted to Awards for All next year and more play equipment will be installed as soon as possible after that.
