COUNCIL NEWS JULY/AUGUST 2011

COUNCIL OFFICES CLOSED The Council Offices will be closed from Monday 22nd August to Monday 5th September 2011 (inclusive).

VACANCY ON THE PARISH COUNCIL There is one vacancy on the Parish Council.  Persons eligible to become co-opted are encouraged to put their names forward to the Chairman of Holton-le-Clay Parish Council, Council Offices, Peppercorn Walk, Holton-le-Clay, Lincolnshire DN36 5DQ.

BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION 2011

The Second Round judges visited on Friday 8th July 2011.  We await the results.

THE BIG SEWER SWITCHOVER                                                                                                                From 1 October 2011, Anglian Water will be looking after many more sewers and pipes that take wastewater from loos and sinks.  This is a result of a change in the law.  If you are connected to the public sewer system, Anglian Water will be taking ownership of any pipes that you share with neighbours as well as any pipes that are outside your property.  For further details please visit www.anglianwater.co.uk/sewerswitchover.

URGENT ADULT VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED FOR YOUTH CLUB

With around 60 young people at the Youth Club each week the committee is URGENTLY looking out for more volunteers.  It is a successful Club but without the sufficient numbers of volunteers to help run it – the Club could be forced to close down.  Please contact the Council Offices or visit the Youth Club on a Friday night - 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm Community Centre for further information.

CHANGE IN AGE GROUP FOR THE HLC YOUTH CLUB A new starting age of the HLC Youth Club, Year 6 – 10 year olds from September 2011.            

COMMUNITY DOG WATCH SCHEME – TRIAL IN MABLETHORPE                                                        THE CLAMP down on dog owners who are irresponsible continues in East Lindsey with the launch of a new scheme initially being trialled in Mablethorpe.  The Dog Watch scheme asks local people, in Mablethorpe to begin with, to register as a point of contact in the community for other local people to report irresponsible dog ownership too.  The information will then be passed on to the Council for action. 

DOGS FOULING

We ask all dog holders to be responsible and clean up after their pets. This includes all areas of the village in particular the pavements, walkways and the former railway line.  If anyone witnesses dog fouling they are to report it to the ELDC on 01507 601111 and ask for Dog Warden or text DOG to 07781481328.                                                                                                                  

Reminder– if you do not clean up after your dog, you could incur a £75.00 on the spot fine with a maximum penalty of £1000.00.

HORSES – NO HORSES ALLOWED AT THE 8 ACRES PLAYING FIELD

NEW DOG BIN  A new dog bin has been placed opposite the Pelham Road green.

OVERHANGING TREES/HEDGEROW/GRASS VERGES Residents are kindly requested to check their gardens for any overhanging trees/hedgerow onto the public footpaths and to cut back if required.  Car owners/drivers are requested to kindly not park on the grass verges but to use their driveways whenever possible or on the road.

The dates of the forthcoming ELDC Facilities Day are Wednesday 10th August 2011.  9.00 am-1.00 pm and 2.00 pm-4.00 pm and Wednesday 14th September 2011.                                                                                                                 

EAST LINDSEY DISTRICT COUNCIL WARD SURGERY

The dates of your local ELDC Councillors’ surgery at the Parish Offices are 

Wednesday 10th August 2011 10.00 am-12.00 noon

Wednesday 14th September 2011 2.00 pm-4.00 pm

BULKY ITEMS OF WASTE

If you need to dispose of bulky items of household waste, i.e. refrigerators, freezers, cookers, beds, etc., please contact East Lindsey District Council on 01507 601111 to arrange collection.  The fee is £15.00 for up to 4 items.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING FULL COUNCIL MEETINGS

The next two Full Council Meetings will be on Monday 19th September 2011 and Monday 17th October 2011.  There is no meeting scheduled in August.  All planning applications can be viewed at 7.15 pm. prior to the meetings. All parishioners are welcome.
