St Peter and St Paul Church

Welcome to Kettlethorpe Parish Council (incorporating Laughterton)

Kettlethorpe and Laughterton are situated eleven miles north-west of Lincoln (A57), bordered by the Roman Foss Dyke and A156 and the Al133 and the river Trent.

Kettlethorpe is famous for its connection with Lady Katherine Swynford, third wife of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, an ancestor of our present Royal Family by the Beaufort line. All that remains of Kettlethorpe Hall, her home and the property of her first husband Sir Hugh Swynford, is the old archway and part of the moat. The present Hall is a private residence, a pleasant 18th century house, and the church opposite is in a charming setting. It is mainly early 19th century, having been rebuilt and altered at various times.

Laughterton is a popular destination with visitors travelling to take advantage of it’s caravan sites, scout camp and golf course complex. There are many pleasant walks around the area with easy access to the river Trent via Marsh Lane. The Friendship Inn, serving real ales and good food, and the Post Office / village shop are on the main road in the village centre.
