Town Crier

Mablethorpe and Sutton Town Crier

Mablethorpe and Sutton Town Crier officially awarded the office of Town Crier to Roy Palmer on 19th September 2011.

Roy is a member of the Guild of Town Criers and wears his uniform with pride.  Announcing events, civic and national occasions Roy will be seen throughout the town on a regular basis, and if you wish your event to be proclaimed by him please complete the attached form and return to the Town Council office.

Residents may have seen him out in the snow on 6th January 2012 proclaiming the start of the Queens Diamond Jubilee year.  With appearances on Calendar that night Roy is helping to put Mablethorpe on the map.  The cold was warded off with welcome soup courtesy of David Ives, members of the British Legion and RLNI standard bearers attended, along with four vintage cars from Boston who came to support the town.  Following a proclomation at Mablethorpe, he did a similar event at Trusthorpe and again at Sutton on Sea, all accompanied by the Town Mayor Cllr Irene Burnett and the Town Clerk Jennie Cooper.

Out again on St Georges Day - Roy was ably assisted by Jim, who proved to be very popular...see his photo!

Entering his very first Town Criers Competition Roy came back with a trophy and first placing in the Best Dressed Crier - and 5th in his first proclomation competition.  Well done to Roy
