Minting and Gautby Parish Council

Minting and Gautby is a small country parish forming one patch in the wonderful green and rural quilt which is Lincolnshire.

Reminiscent of 1960's England with its quiet country lanes, light traffic, livestock in the fields, nearby small market towns with independent shops  it lies within 15 miles of Lincoln city and 30 miles of huge stretches of unspoilt coastline while nestling on the southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds.  Part of our parish also lies within the Lincolnshire Limewoods with its many delightful woods and walks where common spotted orchids, wild red campion and even native bluebells can be found.

We are also fortunate for we still have dark skies and on a clear night we can  see the Milky Way, in spring-time hear a cuckoo flying overhead, watch hares haring across the fields and barn owls swooping low over the dykes.  We can see buzzards soaring and kestrels hovering, catch sight of great spotted woodpeckers and kingfishers and still hear skylarks soaring.  Snowdrops and daffodils abound in springtime and a mass of cowslips and wild primroses can take one by surprise during a walk along a field edge or track verge.

Within an easy drive, the long beaches and undeveloped parts of the Lincolnshire coastline are wonderful for picnicking and dogs walking and still retain a sense of wilderness.

Our parish council has 8 councillors and we all work voluntarily for the benefit of our community, which has 2 churches (All Saints' in Gautby, and St. Andrew's in Minting), a wonderful village hall in Minting, a Gardening Club, Community Choir, the Minting, Gautby & District Heritage Society and The Sebastopol Inn which is currently closed but under offer, so locals have their fingers crossed that it will re-open as a pub again soon.

We also have a very active community and information on What's On can be found at www.mintingandgautby.co.uk.

'The Venue at Minting' promotes several high quality performances from the Rural Touring programme each year.

There are also several local B&B's in our area as well as our local Minting Park Farm shop, whose details can be found on the village website too, under local businesses' section.

We have high speed broadband with several of our residents benefitting from line-of-sight broadband delivered by Quickline based in Kingston-upon-Hull and many of us have very a good mobile broadband signal from EE at 60MB/s.
