Welcome to our Village

Almost every village in the land has some secret treasures waiting to be discovered but North Somercotes is fortunate in having many treasures for discovery by our many visitors.
Donna Nook is well known as an R.A.F. Bombing range on the vast salt flats of the Humber Estuary but is also the breeding ground of one of the U.K.’s largest colonies of the grey seal.
Lakeside, an extremely popular caravan park, is visited by many hundreds of holiday makers and caravan owners each year.

Oasis Lakes and other fishing lakes within and around the village provide peace and relaxation together with fine sport for anglers.

Standing on the edge of the village is Locksley Hall, popularly associated with the Locksley Hall of Tennyson’s poems.

With a population of around 1800, which increases during the summer months, our village itself is very well served with excellent stores and newsagents, two pubs, a dental practice, a modern health clinic, Snooker Hall, W.I., and a popular Over 60’s Club. We also have two Playgroup/Pre School for children aged 2-5 one based at the Primary School and one in the Methodist Chapel, modern Primary School, a High School, a Church Hall and a busy Village Hall. The Parish Church of St. Mary (which dates from C13) and the Trinity Methodist Chapel also serve our village community very well.

We also have our own Fire Station, Independent Meals on Wheels service, Playing Fields, Bowls Club, I.T. Learning Centre, Annual Pancake Races, Horticultural Show – in fact many more treasures too numerous to mention.

It has been said that North Somercotes is a great place to expand the lungs and the mind – never more true than when watching the sea rolling in at Stonebridge in Winter when lungs certainly need to be expanded, and minds…………………

Welcome to North Somercotes – You need never leave.................
