THEFTS AND BURGLARIES

The local community is still being targeted by thieves and burglars.  Please help to protect yourself by keeping your homes and premises locked up and valuables out of sight.  Please keep doors and windows locked when you are in another part of the house or upstairs. If you see anyone around you don’t know acting suspiciously – for example pretending to be canvassing to provide services – then call the police on the 101 number, or 999 in an emergency if you think they may be about to commit an offence, giving descriptions and vehicle registration numbers.

To make sure you receive the latest alerts of thefts etc direct from the Police, please sign up and add your email to the database at www.lincolnshirealert.co.uk/ when you will then receive these warnings direct.  See also Shed Alert  at https://www.lincolnshirealert.co.uk/images/site_images/2963_Spring_Time_Shed_Security.pdf

Bulk Purchase of Heating Oil

There are now over 95 people enrolled in the scheme, and we have arranged 4 deliveries, the last for over 37000 litres resulting in much appreciated savings for those purchasing 500 litres of around 2-4p per litre. There is no charge to parishioners for being in the scheme and no obligation to have deliveries if either price or timing are not suitable. Our next delivery is expected to be organised during late February, depending on the weather between now and then.  For anyone else who wants to join the scheme or find out more, please contact the Parish Clerk either by phone or email on 359282 or nspcpearce@btinternet.com

North Somercotes Public Toilets

This facility is now owned and run by the Parish Council, and therefore its upkeep is a matter of concern to all of us who pay council tax.  Any damage to the facility which has to be repaired, as well as its general upkeep and maintenance, will ultimately affect all of us.  Changes to opening times have been made to try and combat the need which some individuals seem to have to hang around and vandalise the facilities, such as breaking open the toilet roll holders and trying and set fire to them or the paper.  If you see any problems such as flooding or constantly running water at the toilets please contact the Clerk as soon as possible. If you see anyone misusing or vandalising the facilities please call the police on the 101 number.  CCTV has now been installed thanks to a Community Grant from County Councillor Mr Rob Palmer for the outlay on the equipment and kind permission of Roger Gott whose building is supporting the installation, but the maintenance and ongoing costs of electricity for example still have to be found from the precept.
