Joseph Brocklebank

Joseph was born in 1881 at Digby Fen, the youngest child of Edmund (an agricultural labourer) and Mary (nee Blackwell).  Both his parents were from Kirkby Green.

His step brother was named Charles W.B. and his older brothers and sister, John L. and Mary Jane, Frederic and Edmund North.

In 1901 Joseph was working as a general labourer for Ann Wright and her son Fred at Wood Farm, Skellingthorpe.

In 1909 he married Bertha Holland of Stow Park and their 2 daughters, Hilda and Gladys, were born at Northorpe.

Two years later they were living with her parents William and Ellen at Sand Field Farm at Laughterton near Newark.  Joseph worked there as a gamekeeper.

Bertha died in 1947 aged 64 and Joseph lived until 1968 when he died aged 87.
