Flood Prevention

Please can I take this opportunity to inform any resident, thought to be at serious risk of  having their house flooded, that the Parish Council do hold limited supplies of:

·         Unfilled sandbags.

·         Filled sandbags.

·         Sand.

·         Heavy duty polythene sheeting.

If you wish to obtain any supplies, in advance of, or even during a flooding emergency situation, then please contact the Parish Council Office during office hours (8am to 4pm) on 01526 834483 or email clerk@ruskingtonpc.org.uk

We also have shovels and a purpose made sandbag filler to help out in emergency situations.

If your property (house) is being affected by flooding, or you require sandbags out of office hours, please call Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) on their Flood Line number: 01522 782082.

Other important information:

If you own land or property alongside a river or other watercourse, you may have certain legal responsibilities and rights, as the ‘riparian owner.’

These responsibilities may include:

- maintaining the watercourse bed and banks.

- ensuring the free flow of water without obstruction.

- controlling weed growth etc.
