Disposal of Waste

The Parish Council used to provide a skip service, for domestic waste only, for Scotter and Susworth.   During 2007 and 2008,  the service was misused on a number of occasions (e.g. fly-tipping next to the skips or skips overloaded to the point that they are not safe to remove) with a resultant additional cost to the community.   There was also evidence that it was being erroneously used to dispose of recyclable items (e.g. cardboard) and even trade waste.  In consequence of the misuse, the increasing costs of landfill and the improved kerbside recycling provided by the District Council, the Parish Council’s skip service ceased at the end of March 2009.

How can you dispose of domestic waste?
Domestic waste that would have been permitted at the Parish Council’s skip service together with items prohibited at this service (e.g. fridges, freezers and television sets) can be taken to a Household Waste & Recycling Site.  The nearest site is at Kirton in Lindsey, run by North Lincs Council, which has given permission for residents of Scotter Parish to use this facility.  The next nearest site is in Gainsborough.  Addresses and opening times for these centres are as follows :
