Susworth and Scotter classes (1906), National School teachers, County School teachers (1930s & 1950s), Scotter classes (c1951 & c1952)


Scotter National School was built on South Street in 1934 at a cost of £300.  The building still stands (High Street) and is now the Eau Centre. 

The new Scotter Council School opened on 29th August 1932; it's name was changed to Scotter County School in 1956.

Charles William Wakerley served in Scotter as headmaster for over 30 years.  He was the third head of the National School replacing Mr. Allen shortly after the turn of the 20th Century.  In the 1930s he moved with the children to the newly built primary school.  Wakerley Road was named after him.

The picture was a postcard and the reverse states 'Mrs. T. Kendall facing west'.  (In 1915 Mary Capes married Topham Kendall so presumably one of the ladies is Miss Capes)
