Skellingthorpe Parish Council

Skellingthorpe Parish Council is made up of a total of 13 councillors.  Council meet usually once a month as a whole on the last Tuesday of the month; there is also a Planning Committee and Events/Income Generation Committee both normally meet 2nd Tuesday of each month along with a quarterly Human Resources Committee.

Parish Councillors give freely of many hours of their time to try to work for the residents within their statutory powers. They receive no remuneration apart for the reimbursement of any expenses incurred in the course of carrying out Parish Council duties, should they wish to reclaim them which they rarely do.  The Parish Council is a consultee as the same as the parishioners when it comes to considering planning applications submitted to the planning authority. It cannot approve or refuse any application only the planning authority can do so.   The Parish Council's only response to any planning application is to feed back comments to the planning authority. The Parish Council has no power to overturn the decision of the planning authority.

The Parish Council is served by the Parish Clerk/RFO Lynda Skinner and   the second Parish Clerk Margaret Rouston who between them carry out the day to day management of the Council and implement the decisions ensuring that legal requirements are complied with. They also run the Local Access Point in the Village Office, for residents wishing to call in for advice and assistance.  The Office is open from 10.00am to 12.30pm Monday to Thursday for residents queries..
