D Day 80 6th June 2024 1.30pm St Michael's and All Angels Church, Meadow Lane, South Hykeham
To honour the D Day 80 anniversary and the beginning of Operation Warlord there will be events across the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories on Thursday 6th June 2024.
South Hykeham will be joining with the many town, parish and community councils to honour the bravery and sacrifice of all those who secured the peace and freedom we enjoy today.
There will be a service in St Michael and All Angels Church, South Hykeham at 1.30pm followed by a short service at the Memorial Bench adjacent to the Church at 2pm to coincide with the D-Day 80 Remembrance Service at the National Memorial Arboretum, hosted by the Royal British Legion.
There will be refreshments in the Church afterwards and all are welcome to attend.
At 6.30pm the Church bells will be rung along with all Cathedrals and Churches throughout the UK, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man who have been invited to mark the Commemoration/Celebration Event.
In some places local communities will light Beacons or Lamp Lights of Peace at 9.15pm that same evening.
