Your Parish

Who is on the Parish Council?

The Parish

The Toft, Lound and Manthorpe Parish comprises, as the name suggests, the communities and surrounding areas of these 3 villages.  All 3 are old established communities situated in the close proximity of the A6121 Stamford to Bourne road.  The Parish shares the 15th century Church of St Andrews with our neighbouring parish, Witham on the Hill. These 2 parishes also share a friendly rivalry that extends to occasional inter-parish competitions and combined use of the Witham on the Hill Village Hall.

The Parish also boasts a Parish Green situated in Manthorpe complete with playing fields for the children.  A bus service runs between Stamford and Bourne - see the ‘Useful Links’ section.

Your Parish Council

With the exception of the part-time clerk, membership of the Parish Council is purely voluntary and, as such, attracts no remuneration.  There are 5 positions on the Parish Council with each councillor normally completing a 4-year term before either retiring or putting themselves forward to popular vote for another term.  The current Parish Council elects a chair and deputy chair during the May meeting each year. The Parish Council meets formally every 2 months, normally holding open public meetings in the Toft Hotel at 7.30 pm in the evening.  A formal agenda is provided for each meeting and members of the public are encouraged to join in the discussions throughout the meetings.  Normally, the meetings are also attended by our County and District Councillors both of whom report to the Parish at each meeting.  The Parish is lucky to have benefitted from gifts of land and property in the past.  As such, the Parish precept is normally set at ‘zero’ saving all residents this part of their Community Charge.
