- Parish Council Centenary

Celebrating 100 years of West Deeping Parish Council - PC100 July 28th 2019

On behalf of West Deeping Parish Council, MANY THANKS to Melanie James and the Jubilee Fund Committee for organising PC100; MANY THANKS to Philippa Swanborough for designing and printing the poster  and MANY THANKS to all those who turned up to help celebrate, despite the miserable weather!

The picnic and other activities had to be re-located to St Andrew's Church, so for this event it was a case of  "The Community in the Church" rather than "The Church in the Community"!

The event wasn't intended to raise money, but the Tombola and profits from the Prize Draw resulted in £150 to add to the Jubilee Fund - watch out for future events and projects which benefit the village!

Agenda

  1. Presentation of a bench for the Tinsley Field: The Parish Council has had nine chairmen in its 100 years' history.  Three of them - Mrs June Thomas 2001 - 2010; Iain Stowe 2010- 2019 and Mrs Maggie Ashcroft (2019 - ) cut the ribbons
  2. The West Deeping Mile: The route starts outside the church, along Church Lane, turning right into King Street and across the bridge, before turning right along the drive through Church Meadow, up to the Mill and arriving back at the church. The organisation and presentation of medals and cups for the winners are all THANKS to Steve and Ginny Cook. Race winners and their times are shown in Gallery
  3. Family entertainments and picnic in the Church: Jubilee Committee members organised various activities for children, including a litter-picking race. Prize tombola and Prize Bingo meant that few people went home empty-handed,
  4. Village Quiz and Prize Draw: MANY THANKS to Amy Gill of the Red Lion for organising these.  Ryan Swanborough won the prize of a meal for two at The Red Lion, to give to his mum.  Les Bullock won the hamper of confectionery for picking the correct square on the treasure map.
