Coffee Morning Saturday 16th November 10.30am-12noon WDVH. All proceeds to the installation of the toilet/servery in St Andrew’s Church. Refreshments, etc.

West Deeping Heritage Group. Wednesday 20th November: WDVH. 7pm for 7.30pm start. Prehistoric Settlement in the Welland Valley. Andrew Hatton (Bob) was involved in the 1990s excavation at Stowe Farm near Greatford. More recently, as part of his research for an M.Phil. at Sheffield University, he has reviewed the Bronze Age field systems including the Rectory Farm site at West Deeping. Rambling Readers (Book Club) meet on the last Friday of the month in WDVH. A new book each month is supplied by Lincolnshire Libraries. We are also sharing copies of the 2018 Man Booker Prize short list. Please talk to Elizabeth on 01778 344674

The village litter pick on 5th October was a great success. Thank you to Annie for organising and all those who turned out. South Kesteven Council give back up, providing bags, and taking them away very soon after the day.

A quiz night in WDVH on 12th October was enjoyed by all. £213.76 was raised for Water Aid in memory of Gill Edwards.

Nature Notes. In October a small spindle tree (Euonymus europaeus) planted in St Andrew’s churchyard by conservation group was covered with bright pink and orange fruits. Ivies flower in early winter and are useful for pollinators.

Save the Date

Christmas is Coming a concert in St Andrew’s Church Friday 6th December, 7.30pm performed by the Market Deeping choir The Noteables. The programme includes Wenceslas, an exciting and vivid work by Bob Chilcott, based on the traditional carol. The choir will also sing music by Will Todd, Stanley Vann and Edward Elgar as well as a piece from the musical Martin Guerre, a folk spiritual, and ‘Mary had a baby’. There will also be a chance for the audience to join in with some favourite carols. Tickets  £8 (£1 for children under 16) are available from choir members, the church or at the door.
