The village

The village is situated on the Lincolnshire/Leicestershire border, 6 miles from Grantham and 12 miles from Melton Mowbray.

The village runs along the side of a hill immediately opposite the higher hill on which towers Belvoir castle.Woolsthorpe has always been closely associated with the castle over the years particularly in terms of estate land and property ownership. The village is linear in  form running north to south and is located between the River Devon on the west and Holywell Woods to the east.

The village lies in a conservation area and comprises of the village extending northwards on the western side of Main Street and including the Belvoir Hunt stables.The boundary of the conservation area follows the line of the development around the village terminating after the bridge to the south.
