Bardney Bridge renovations

Today (24.01.19) BGPC met with members of the LCC Highways team dealing with the closure of Bardney Bridge. LCC Bridge Team stated that the reason for the closure of bridge is to carry out repairs to the structural fault that has been identified. Whilst this work is being carried out the intention is to re-paint and re-proof the bridge at the same time, in order to prevent the bridge requiring further closure. The work is to be phased to allow different tasks to be carried out at the same time whenever possible. Work is scheduled to take 12 weeks, however it is envisaged that the bridge will remain open for Easter week and hopefully re-open to traffic for the last week. Pedestrian and cycle access will be available for the majority of the time, however for health and safety reasons there may be times when this needs to be closed, however advanced notification will be provided and it will not be carried out at the busiest times. BGPC has requested that LCC Highways actively look into instating a temporary car park on the Causeway side of the bridge. Organisations such as the emergency services, public buses, school buses, social and care organisations have all been notified and they are currently considering their contingency plans. As a result of the meeting BGPC will be providing the following; • In the lead up to the closure a monthly update will be provided. • Whilst the work is ongoing a weekly update will be provided. • Updates and timetables on public and school timetables as soon as they become available. BGPC will make this available via; • Bardney Noticeboard Facebook page, • a specific page on the BGPC website, • the Parish Magazine • village noticeboards • posters in the Post Office and Co-op
