Ralph Fowler

On 26 April 2012 a tree was planted in the Brattleby paddock as a memorial to Ralph Fowler, who died in February, and his wife Joyce who died in 2011.

In a rare break in the rain, Ralph’s nephew, Brian Wright supported by villagers and friends, planted an Ellison’s Orange apple tree.  This is a Lincolnshire variety  developed by the Rev Ellison in 1904 and cultivated at Hartsholme Hall, Skellingthorpe. This was a very appropriate tree as Ralph loved apples and had many trees in his garden; he also spent his last year in Skellingthorpe.

Prior to this, Ralph’s ashes were interred in Brattleby churchyard.

To complete the afternoon everyone returned to Woodforths  Cottage for refreshments and a good chat!
