Parish Council/Councillors

Butterwick Parish Council was formed in 1894 with Mr W Upsall as the first chairman.  In 1994, the Council celebrated 100 years with a journey back in time.  (The newspaper report at the time is attached)

Present Day Councillors:

Andrew Gosling (Chairman)
1 Mill lane,  Butterwick,  Boston,  Lincs. PE22 0JE
Telephone: 01205 760268

I have lived in Butterwick Since 1986 and have served on the Parish Council from 2003, acting as Chairman since May 2007.  I am married with two sons, who both attended the village school. I am the Chairman of the Park Green Project Committee and actively involved with the day to day running and maintenance of the Butterwick Park.

Mike Knowles - Vice Chairman  (Parish Council Representative on the Village Hall Committee) -  I was born in 1954 and educated at Market Harborough Grammar School.  I joined the Army in 1972 and, following training, served with 3 Para, The Red Devils, 2 Para and The Army Air Corps.  I retired from the Army in 1995 having achieved the position of Sgt Major and settled in Butterwick.

I am married to Caroline and we have 3 children.  The two youngest were educated at Butterwick Primary School and my wife is a local school nurse.  I am now retired and my hobbies include flying and golf but my greatest relaxation comes from reading a good book.

The village has given my family and I a sense of stability since we moved here (following 12 house moves whilst serving in the army) and I am very pleased and honoured to have the opportunity to help keep our village a nice place to live.

Kevin Forman   -  I have lived in the village with my wife Brenda since 1979.  During this time we have brought up two children, Daniel and Michelle, who both attended Butterwick Primary School. We now have two grandchildren, Emi-Mai and Jaxon.  Emi-Mai also attends Butterwick Primary School.

For the past 16 years I have been a Parish Councillor and also a member of the Park Green Project Committee.

I have worked in the village from 1968, firstly for Marshalls of Butterwick, then Produce World.  I am now in the gardening trade after Produce World closed down in 2015.

Carol Smith –  I have served on the current Parish Council since November 2006, although I was on in previous years and take a great interest in the activities of the village.  I am  Vice Chairman of The Village Hall  Committee. I am President of Burgh Short Mat Bowls and I am a member of Boston Bowling Club, and I am also a member of Boston West Golf Club.  I enjoy the WI being a member of Sibsey WI, I enjoy gardening and I am a member of Rochford Tower Club, and also Boston Flower Club.

Nigel Donnelley - I have lived in Butterwick for 30 years and have been on the Parish Council since 2015.  I retired from the Civil Service after 32 and I worked at Pilgrim Hospital for 6 years and retired from there in 2011.  I have three sons who all went The Giles School.

Lyn Pearson - I have lived in the village since 1983, with my husband Keith (who is 'Freiston  born and bred').  Both our children attended Butterwick primary school.I worked for The Post Office for 30 years.  Since finishing work I have become involved with The Walking For Health Scheme.  I am a walk leader & run the Butterwick group which meets every Wednesday at 1.30pm at The Evergreens.  We normally walk for 3 miles, but there is also  a shorter, slower walk.  At the age of 13 I discovered Agatha Christie books & have not stopped reading since!  Though I am also very interested in history and read widely on that subject. Cycling is something else I enjoy,  and I regularly cycle from Butterwick into Boston or down to PRSA to attend aquafit classes.

Ann Quickfall - I retired to Butterwick 12 years ago having previously enjoyed a 39 year nursing career.  The final 23 years of my career were served in the Army in the QARANC having filled a variety of roles in England, Northern Ireland, Europe and the Middle and Far East.  In 1988 I was awarded the ARRC in the Queens Birthday Honours list for services to nursing.

Since retiring and despite my age I still try and keep myself fit, going to the Gym and then swimming 2 or 3 times a week, Bowling both indoors and outdoors, and enjoyable pursuits such as Travel, Patchwork, Scrap Booking and Baking.

I feel passionate about the maintenance of traditional village life and community, and to that end since retiring have been involved with the Women's Institute, The British Legion, The Village Hall (Secretary for the last 7 years) and all things Church related (PCC Treasurer for 8 years) and event organiser and fundraiser.

I consider being on the Parish Council as an important role in helping to maintain the traditional standards of the village life and a sense of community.
