Christmas Market
The Christmas Market 2012 took place on Sunday the 25th of November, 10am - 4pm, in the Market Place, High Street, Market Deeping.
With many traders selling a wide variety of tempting festive goods, including jewellery, books, hand crafted gifts, paintings, clothing, giftware, plants, cheeses, meats, cakes, home made chocolate truffles, and locally brewed beers there was something for everyone ... fairground attractions, and a range of local entertainment on the stage (including local schools and dance groups). This year also saw the first Junior Town Crier competition with entrants from local primary schools competing against each other to find the best Under 8 year old Junior Crier and the best 8-11 year old Junior Crier. The competition was won by 10 year-old Madaleine Girvan of Market Deeping Community Primary School. The event was sponsored by the Boundary Restaurant and Takeaway and Bill Shaw (owner) took part in the judging and presented Madaleine with a Terry Wright Cycles gift voucher. Second and third places were won by Samantha Pinder and Nikita Kay respectively.
The official switch-on of the new Christmas Lights by the Town Mayor, Councillor Reg Howard and the 2012 Deepings Carnival Queen brought the day to a close.
