Village Hall

The Committee managing the Village Hall was formed by representative members of local organisations of the village in the late 1950’s. At that time the Committee was under a Chairman in the first instance of Mr Charles Wallace. He was also a member of Nettleham Parish Council.
The land for the Village Hall was purchased in the late 1960’s from West Lindsey District Council and building commenced in the spring of 1971 and completed in about October of that year.

Bookings were first taken in November 1971 and in order to save costs at the time local volunteers cleaned the hall after each letting. This continued until there was sufficient funds to pay for a part time cleaner.

The Village Hall consisted in the first instance of an entrance hall, small committee room, ladies and gents toilets, kitchen and main hall. In 1976 an extension was added comprising of a bar/committee room, stage and two dressing rooms and toilet. All funds required for the building and extension including surfaces and ground work for the car park, fencing and gates etc were raised through fund raising events such as Bingo, Jumble Sales, Concerts, Dances and the lettings to various organisations and grants which were available from various sources at that time.

The Parish Council has on occasions donated funds for specific projects relating to the continuation of the availability of the Hall to the public otherwise it has been self supporting.

The premises are currently held for various local functions including Badminton, Keep Fit, pre-school and after school club, Women’s Institute, Ladies Club, Parties and Jumble Sales, amongst the many events.

The premises continue to be available for weekend events but booking early is strongly recommended.
The village hall has capacity for 140 people in the main hall and 40 in the lounge.  If both areas are hired the overall capacity is 180 people.

There is currently a Village Hall Committee that is dedicated to future fund raising events which include the Gardening Club Flower and Vegetable Show, and the annual Carnival which is held each year.
