Local Elections - Thursday 2nd May 2019

Local Elections for the District Council (including the Aveland Ward for Rippingale) and Parish Council are due to take place on 2nd May. Please refer to the attached notices below for details. The details are also available on the Parish Council and Village Hall Noticeboards

On 1st March, the Rural Services Network launched a campaign calling on the Government to develop a Rural Strategy.

“Rural Communities are frequently overlooked in a policy environment dominated by urban thinking and policy concerns. This often means communities either miss out on the benefits or experience unintended consequences from policies which are poorly thought-through from a rural perspective. It is time for this ‘rural mainstreaming’ to stop. People living in our towns and villages simply cannot afford to wait any longer for politicians to take their concerns seriously and act on them,” said Rural Services Network chief executive, Graham Biggs.

“If rural communities are to be sustainable, the Government must seize this opportunity to work with communities to produce a long-term, funded rural strategy which recognises the contribution rural areas make and have the potential to make to the wellbeing and prosperity of the nation as a whole.”

We are asking all of the Parish Councils and organisations in Rural Areas to support our call and sign up to support our campaign. For further information please see the weblink at the bottom of the page.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES

Work is due to take place sometime between 31 May and 6 September, but we will (should) get more specific dates closer to the time. This is for surface re-dressing work and on High Street and Station Street. Please note it will be necessary to impose a temporary restriction to all vehicular traffic on the road(s) detailed below. Adequate arrangements will be made to enable pedestrians to access premises in the affected area.

Other road closures will also be happening locally, see the document below for full details.

Tesco Bags of Help Grant Scheme – Rippingale Playing Field equipment project

The Rippingale Replace Recreational Equipment and Supply Adult Fitness Equipment appeal has been chosen as a project to be voted on by Tesco customers in the following stores from Friday 1st March 2019 to Tuesday 30th April 2019:

6379    Bourne    PE10 9LS    Superstore
2192    BOURNE EXPRESS    PE10 9AQ    Express
3308    SPALDING MATMORE EXP    PE11 2PN    Express

Our project along with the other two successful projects in our region will go forward to a vote in these Tesco stores where their customers will decide the outcome by voting for their favourite project each time they shop. The project with the highest number of votes will receive £4,000 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), the second placed project £2,000 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), and the third placed project £1,000.

I would ask that that Tesco customers support Rippingale’s cause to replace our outdated and worn play equipment and also provide adult fitness equipment. New equipment would enhance Rippingale’s and other local villages’ residents’ recreational and health options, providing social cohesion and enhance village life.

Chris Charlton, Chairman Rippingale Parish Council. 15/02/19
