15/04/19 Bins around the village

Over the last week, a number of old concrete and end-of-life bins have been removed from around the village by WLDC, with help from our Grounds team.

7 litter and 1 dog bin have been removed from Bridge Street - 5 of these were end-of-life. This work has been done as part of the Bridge Street Regeneration project, in order to reduce the street clutter and improve the public realm (poor public realm was one of the key reasons that the Bridge Street Conservation Area is on Historic England's At-Risk register). There is still a bin on Bridge Street, near the footbridge, plus one the other side of the Canal. A new heritage style bin is currently also being procured for Bridge Street.

2 bins near the Fossdyke picnic area have been removed at the request of the Canal & River Trust as they were corroded and were attracting rats.

The old concrete bin which was at the St Andrews/Sykes Lane junction has now been replaced with a new metal post and one of the black bins removed from Bridge Street.

The old concrete bin from the junction of Mill Lane and the footpath which runs to the rear of the school has been replaced by a post-mounted black bin (removed from Bridge Street). This has been sited approximately 10 feet away from the original bin location.

The old concrete bin from the Manor Road/Mill Lane junction, has now been replaced by a new post-mounted bin. This has been sited approximately 2 feet away from the original bin location.

The dog bin removed from Bridge Street has now replaced a damaged dog bin at the Church Lane/Mill Lane junction.

Parishioners are reminded that dog waste can be put in any Council litter bins and this does not just have to be in a dog bin

20/03/2019 Citizens Advice sessions at Saxilby

Unfortunately the funding for the fortnightly Rural Outreach Citizens Advice sessions at St Andrews Community Centre will come to an end at the end of March, and there will be no further outreach sessions here after that date. Citizens Advice will still be available to offer advice to clients across West Lindsey. 19/03/2019 Precept 2019/20

Residents will have been receiving their Council Tax bills this week. The total precept for the Parish Council for 2019/20 is £185,500. This equates to a 4.38% increase from 2018/19 in council tax for a Band D property (equivalent to a council tax charge of £137.75 for a Band D property).

Whilst the Council was able to keep the precept amount the same last year (2018/19), unfortunately an increase has been requested this year. The key reasons for the increase are due to statutory and contractual wage and pension increases. This also means there will also be an increase in running costs, due to the impact of statutory wage increases on bills from other companies and contractors. We are also required to ensure adequate provision is in the budget in case there is a contested election when the whole of the Council is up for election in May.

The next Full Council meeting is on 3rd April at 7.30pm if you have any questions or comments for your councillors.
