24/09/20 Community Centre Update

Strip-Out Work Completed in August

This removed the library carpet, library suspended ceiling tiles, damaged flooring in the Changing Rooms, damaged lights, stripped out the away changing room (seat of the fire). 8 truck-loads of debris were removed. A builder’s clean then took place, removing any further smoke particles disturbed by the strip-out works.

Reinstatement Works

Following a tender process, managed through the surveyor, appointed by our insurance company, a contractor was appointed to do the re-instatement works. They have started and work’s currently scheduled to complete by 2nd December.

Barriers installed in car park corner, to protect contractors and pedestrians during the ongoing works. The public footpath which runs down the car park alongside the tennis courts is still open and accessible. We apologise for any inconvenience  whilst these works are ongoing.  The defibrillator here is out of action whilst the contractor is on-site. East Midlands Ambulance Service are aware and will not send anybody to this defibrillator.

We are waiting for Western Power re-connect the electrical supply to the building. The hope is that this could just be a few weeks now. The initial re-instatement works will focus on the electrical connection and internal rewiring. The grid for the suspended ceiling tiles in the library will be taken down to facilitate further work to the ceiling.

The contractor plans to commence at the library end and then work back towards the changing room end of the building. The intention is that this may allow part of the building to (safely) re-open before all the works are complete. Planning for this is underway but dependent on the reconnection and Covid-19 restrictions.

Summary of the reinstatement (and other) works:

  • Reconnection of electrical supply and internal rewiring as necessary
  • Youth Club Room – new flooring, part new skirting board, redecoration
  • Stairwell and upstairs corridor – redecoration
  • Library—new suspended ceiling, carpet, lights, redecoration, shelving.
  • Away Changing Room (seat of the fire) – new: ceiling/skirting boards, shower tiles, 2 windows, fixed seating, cloak hooks, flooring, electricity meter cupboard, redecoration, lights/extractor fans, radiator, shower heads.
  • Ladies toilet/shower (Changing Room area) – new: ceiling/skirting boards, shower tiles/shower curtain, soap/paper towel dispenser/mirror, redecoration, lights/extractor fans, radiator.
  • Referees Room (Changing Room area) – new: ceiling, flooring, redecoration, lights, radiator.
  • Changing Room corridor – new: ceiling, flooring, redecoration, lights/fire alarm fittings/sensors, radiator
  • Home Changing Room – redecoration, new lights
  • Disabled toilet (Changing Room) – new: shower tray/tiles/shower curtain, soap/paper towel dispenser, redecoration, lights, radiator.
  • New smoke detectors in affected areas
  • Boiler service (library side of building)
  • Further cleaning following the reinstatement works
  • New controls for bowls sprinkler system
  • Lift service and recommissioning
  • Liaising  with the library service to ensure books are properly aired to remove any residual smoke smell. Any books deemed not fit for putting back in the library will be replaced by Lincolnshire County Council/GLL (up to the limit on book numbers, as defined in our Service Level Agreement).

23/09/20 MUGA & Football Goal at Westcroft

A meeting was also held with some residents on Westcroft to look at the best location for siting a new football goal.

26/03/20 Statement from Lindum Homes

"Given the ongoing situation with COVID 19 Lindum Homes have taken the decision to close their site and ongoing operations, with the exception of allowing final completions which are already legally tied in. This unfortunately includes work on Westcroft Green.

Lindum Homes sincerely apologise for the length of time these works have taken thus far. The recent wet weather has meant we have not been able to complete the works, and if works had been attempted it would have done more harm than good. Once operations resume and weather conditions improve, works to complete Westcroft Green will be prioritised."
