Memorial Field Play Area Re-Development

Following the hard work of volunteers and councillors particularly on the Play Area Working Group, we are pleased to announce that our new park has been installed.

This project has invested over £50,000 in the community, with the cost of this equipment and the installation alone being £53,000. However, coming third in a national competition with play equipment providers Kompan has enabled us to secure extra discounts, meaning we will pay less for the project.

The equipment was selected based on community consultation and was funded through grants, fundraising donations and a Council contribution.

The park includes a zip wire, a tower unit with slide and fireman’s pole, toddler and junior swings, a basket swing, a springer and a roundabout.

Grants have been secured from the following organisations to enable the project to be completed:

  • Fundraising (£4,000+)
  • Council Contribution (£5,000)
  • National Lottery, Awards for All (£9,550)
  • West Lindsey District Council with Community Lincs (£8,000)
  • Lincolnshire Co-operative (£6,400)
  • Tesco (£2,000)
  • One Stop (£1,000)
  • Lincolnshire Playing Field Association (£500)
  • Aviva (£300)
  • Waitrose (£250)
  • Police Mutual (£100)
  • Additional discount from Kompan after coming 3rd in their national competition
  • Donations from local organisations including Saxilby Fire Station, Ladies Club and Kelly Gelder of Usborne Books

After the park is installed further fundraising will be organised to complete the project including benches, a waste bin, fencing and planting, so please bear with us whilst this next stage is finished to see the final completed project.

Future Plans: Wheeled Park, MUGA, and West Croft Drive Play Area

Longer term plans also include a wheeled park (skate/scooter/BMX), multi-use games area (MUGA) and gym equipment.

At the West Croft Drive recreation area we are hoping to install items including a climbing wall, slides and picnic benches. These projects will be further progressed after the Memorial Field Play Area project is completed.
