Christmas Lights Switch on and Fireworks Display

Our community Christmas lights switch-on and fireworks display returns for 2018 on Saturday 1st December.

This event is free, including the fireworks, although we will be fundraising for Village Projects.


Itinerary

The event is will follow a similar format to previous years:


4:00pm St Botolph’s Church Hall open for hot dogs, refreshments and also the sale of lanterns and glow sticks.

5:00pm Church Service, with the school choir and carols.


5:40pm Lantern procession from the Church, down to the Christmas Tree on the High Street, led by the Scouts Band.

6:05pm Speeches, blessing of the Christmas Tree, countdown to the lights switch-on, carols to sing along to with musical accompaniment from the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Band.

Carol song-sheets will be available at the Church Hall, the Village Hall, at the History Society stall and, of course, by the tree.

The focus will then move to the Memorial Field, where there will be some outside stalls and refreshments, music from Saxilby Youth Band, Indoor soft play by Kiddiescastles followed by:

7:20pm Fireworks, including a ‘Tribute to 100 Years of the RAF’. After the fireworks, the band Naughty Step will play in the function room until late.

Other village events from the afternoon to the evening for your diary;

The Village Hall Christmas Market (11 – 7pm, with Santa from 3pm),
The History Society mulled wine stall, opposite the Xmas tree.
The Willow Tree café will also be open late.

Local Shops and Pubs will be open, so there will be plenty of choices for you to soak up the atmosphere & enjoy the evening.
