Whist Drive

On Wednesday evenings from the beginning of September to the end of April there is a whist drive held in Scotton Village Hall.  Twenty four hands are played, followed by a "miniature"of six hands.  There are prizes for the three men and the three women with the highest scores in the main whist drive and a couple winning the "miniature".  Tickets for a small raffle each week are included in the entry fee of £2.00.

There is also a Christmas Whist Drive. The whist drive is accompanied by a Grand Christmas Draw with many of the prizes being donated.  All proceeds from the weekly and the Christmas Whist Drives go to the Scotton Village Hall Fund for the maintenance of the village hall and the Littlewood Playpark.

There is one other special drive, the "Kidney Whist Drive" which is usually held in March.  This is one of a number of similar events held locally in aid of the Sheffield Area Kidney Association which were started many years ago by a keen whist driver who suffered from kidney disease.

Anyone who enjoys a friendly game of whist is welcome at the whist drives. Some people come regularly, some occasionally, so if you fancy a game of cards and are free on a Wednesday evening, why not come along and give it a try. Play starts at 7.30pm.
