Eau Valley Singers

We are a community choir for mixed voices, both male and female, which was formed in April 2011.  We rehearse on Monday evenings in Scotton Village Hall from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and sing songs from various categories of popular music.  Our aim is to enjoy singing together and in so doing we learn new skills, raise money for charity and offer entertainment to our local community.

Our rehearsals are centred around two main performances, our Christmas Concert in December and our Summer Concert in late June or early July, although we do take bookings at other times of the year depending upon demand and our availability.

The year starts in September with three weeks off at Christmas, one week off at Easter and then continuing until about the third week of July.  The Annual General Meeting is held in July followed by our Annual Dinner.  The choir then has a break for the whole of August and meets again in September. Funding is by membership subscriptions in order that we can purchase new music and extend our repertoire.  Members are invited to make suggestions for new material but this will depend on a suitable arrangement being found. The Musical Director makes the final decision on music purchased.  There is no audition on joining and you do not have to be able to read music as you will be helped through each song by other members who have sung it before. We have a half-time break so that you can have a drink and a chat and get to know the other members.

It is a well known fact that singing is good for you so joining a choir can offer you an improved sense of well being, a feeling of achievement, a fitness workout and an awareness of how harmony, both musically and spiritually, can enhance our lives.  You can join the choir at any time of the year.  The first week is free with no obligation but to enjoy yourself.  If you would like to give it a try, do come along and we will make you most welcome.
